Anguita no probó bocado.

In his book "The Tipping Point", Malcolm Gladwell says Mavens are "information specialists", "almost pathologically helpful" people we rely upon to connect us with new information...This blog is an invitation to share the hidden gems that make the places we visit (or live at) more enjoyable. Food and experiences worth a Plane ride.

Celeb Mavens: Simone de Beauvoir (and Sartre) ate so so food in Rouen
Maven: Simone de Beauvoir
Area: Rouen, Normandy
"Between two brothels, each guarded by a tough pimp, was that renowned restaurant La Grosse Tonne; We went there occasionally to sample the Sole Normande and Soufflé au Calvados. Most of the time we ate in the big Brasserie Paillete a quiet and commonplace stablishment"

Celeb Mavens: Simone de Beauvoir in Rouen ate bad food
Maven: Simone de Beauvoir
Area: Rouen, Normandy
jaunie me plaisaient."

El Maven in a mining town drinks Draft-Vermouth
Maven: Angel Mateo Charris
Area: La Unión, Murcia
When lead miners in La Unión needed to comfort their souls and make their bodies warmer they could count on the local Bodegas (the real ones where you can actually drink wines and spirits). Nowadays the village is famous for the Flamenco Festival held every year in August. Cryogenized blue collar endroits, gipsy blues and delicious Barrel wines, Draft-Vermouth and Michirones @ Bodegas Lloret

El Maven in Bilbao eats Churros
Maven: La Maven
Area: Calle Buenos Aires, Bilbao
Once upon a time in Bilbao, there was a man in love with New York and all things American. In 1923 he opened a Pastry shop in which to pay homage to those faraway lands. Apparently he never made it to his beloved continent but he sure had a blast choosing the right totems. By the way, the Churros con chocolate are to die for @ Pastelería New York

People from Cantabria, well known for the quality of their milk, cream and butter, came up with the recipe of the very popular Sobaos Pasiegos. You can find takes on the thing all over Spain but the OMG version is sold @ Confitería Máximo Díaz
